15 million Britons vaccinated - Vaccine Minister
About 15 million UK citizens have been given their first jab of the COVID-19 vaccine which has been hailed by many as a great milestone. The UK's Prime Minister said this excellent feat was done in less than two months after their first dose was administered in mid-December. This comes as the British government will announce on Friday how it is pledged to offer every citizen their vaccines.
These vaccinations have been expanded to elders over 60s and those who are medically vulnerable. In a widely shared video, Minister Johnson praised the efforts of the NHS and other health officials who have made this possible. Wales although with a lower population has also given jabs to more than 30% of its population.
Minister promises more will be vaccinated before its quarter
Mr. Johnson insists that they are not resting, and now they have more work to do before the year runs out. Tuesday's count on COVID-19 vaccinations shows a total of 15,100,234 people have been given their first jab. However, on a sad note, more than 250 individuals lost their lives to the virus after testing positive for 3 weeks.
This has taken the UK's total fatalities to about 116,261. New infections reported are 9,978, which brings the total of infections in the UK to 4,109,612. According to the NHS Chief Sir Simon Steven also praised this remarkable achievement in just two months.
He said that the UK remains the first country to get to these figures in Europe and this has shown their commitment to health, and they won't disappoint their citizens. He advised citizens to keep with the health protocols and stay indoors.
